but just as meaningful…
"Thank you Sorayah for volunteering your time on 10/3/16 and 10/4/16 to spend with the Graduate Nurse applicants and help answer their questions about the residency program and nursing at MDACC as they waited for interviews. We received great feedback from the interviewees and how much they appreciated the opportunity to speak with previous participants and how this helped ease their fears and anxiety prior to the panel interview."

"I would like to recognize Sorayah for exemplifying the MD Anderson core values as evidenced by her demonstration of caring and scholarship with me, a tenured senior nurse educator, as it relates to her preparation for the Pressure Injury Protection (Skin) Competency. Sorayah is EXTREMELY talented and organized. She took generic educational content & transformed that content into an experiential activity that challenges the learner to critically think. Evidence shows that brain based learning has greater potential of hardwiring knowledge into behaviors with positive outcomes. Since NRP shares space on P10 with EC, Sorayah graciously shared her instructional strategies she developed with Nicolyn Hoffman. We are hard pressed to identify a better method of instruction and salute both she and Nicolyn for sharing their competency stations they worked so hard to create. I look forward to seeing the impact that Sorayah will have in serving the needs of patients at MD Anderson. As a cancer survivor and MD Anderson patient, I am so proud to know Sorayah, a committed clinical resource nurse with soul. Great job!"

"My father passed away on April 28. Of all the care he received at MD Anderson, your intervention to get his endoscopy back on track was one of the highlights that he and his family appreciated the most. It takes an extra effort to try and reschedule things to help someone. Even though he had a terminal illness, you treated him as important. He indeed had the procedure as you scheduled it. The endoscopy went well, and with new stents in place his nutrition improved. This helped him survive approximately 3 more months until his tumor progressed. In January he told me “every day I wake up is a victory.” This is the spirit in which you helped him. Thank you very much."

She uses specific exercises to strengthen her EC team and has an extraordinary ability to turn a group into a team. She is an asset to our organization. Sorayah values the input of other employees, shares the credit when decisions brings excellent outcome. She is the resource for all the employees in all areas like education, decision making etc."

"Sorayah exemplifies cultivating interprofessional relationships in the CNL role and is excellent at doing it. Care coordination: Sorayah met a family who temporarily lived in her apartment complex to come to MD Anderson for treatment from Bolivia. Because they ended up neighbors they were inquiring information from Sorayah and keeping her informed of what was going on. Sorayah found out where this patient was when inpatient and coordinated with a CNL on that floor to make sure the family had all their questions, answered and all other concerns addressed. Partnership: Sorayah is the ultimate networker. She is able to develop relationships; professional but personal and collaborate with these various departments, teams, units, etc. Sorayah is your person for anything technology related; she is an incredible resource and is able to utilize this skill by creating various reports/data, etc. Keep up your incredible work!!"
